Transform Africa Summit | Leaders Summit Panel | 11 May 2017
“We are really left behind by other regions of this world. I don’t think it’s because Africans we are incapable of doing things the way we should or be where others are or even go beyond. We need to invest in infrastructure but we need to invest more in our political will and sense of urgency, starting with what we already have and what is possible within our means.
We need to do something in order to be where we want to be and where others have taken for granted, many times helped by young talented Africans. You find young talented Africans are doing a lot of good work outside of this continent and helping deliver in some of the promises in those other countries when we are here begging. We need to find a way to do things as fast as we can.”
-President Kagame speaking on the Transform Africa Summit Leaders Panel alongside President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger, President Ismail Guelleh of Djibouti, Zambia Vice President Inonge Wina, Gabon Prime Minister Emmanuel Issoze-Ngondet and Prime Minisiter of Equatorial Guinea Vicente Ehate Tomi.
