YOUCAN is pleased to announce the following recipients of our annual awards for outstanding contributions to the field of peacebuilding.

Pearson Award -For Outstanding leadership

internationally as youth peacebuilders.

The LANDON PEARSON award recognizes a young peacebuilder in a country

outside of Canada who has achieved success in bringing peace to his/her

community. Community can be defined as any place he or she lives, works,

plays and/or interacts.

Recipient: Chuck Richardson, Spirit of Enniskillen Trust, Belfast,

Northern Ireland

Ahluwalia Award – For Outstanding leadership

in Cross-Cultural approaches to Peacebuilding.

The ABHI AHLUWALIA award recognizes a YOUCAN member who has achieved success in promoting cross-cultural conflict resolution processes.

Recipient: Ahmed Mohamed Nor, Arladun Somali-Canadian Society

Marzsewski Award – For Outstanding

leadership as an mentor of youth in peacebuilding.

The Eva Marszewski Award recognizes Members of YOUCAN who have

contributed in a meritorious way to the improvement of the field of conflict

resolution and to the achievement of the objectives of YOUCAN as an excelling adult mentor to a youth leader.

 Recipient: Jane Hurst, Boys and Girls Clubs of Alberta

Farthing Award – For Outstanding leadership

nationally as a youth peacebuilder.

The Dave Farthing award recognizes a young peacebuilder in Canada who has achieved success in bringing peace to his/her community. Community can be defined as any place he or she lives, works, plays and/or interacts.

 Recipient: Simon Atem

Wiley Award – For Outstanding leadership as

an educator of youth in peacebuilding.

The FRANK WILEY award recognizes an educator of youth peacebuilding in

Canada who has achieved success in empowering youth to bring peace to their community. Community can be defined as any place one lives, works, plays and/or interacts.

 Recipient: Wende Tulk, Inuksuk HS, Nunavut

Kelly Award – For Outstanding leadership

as a YOUCAN Volunteer.

The CATHY ANN KELLY award recognizes a YOUCAN member who has

demonstrated to YOUCAN Board, Staff and our Awards Committee that he/she should be recognised as the Volunteer of the year.

 Recipient: Annie Hoang
